Class of 2026 Graduation Ceremony Update

Revised Graduation Ceremony Arrangements

Saturday, May 23rd 8:30am

High School Gymnasiums

Limited Seating - Tickets Required

Due to the latest weather forecasts and growing confidence of rain throughout the day, the School District of Oconee County has made the decision to move graduation ceremonies indoors at 8:30am on Saturday.  Ceremonies will be held in the main gymnasium at each school.

In making this decision, the district carefully considered several factors, including the projected weather conditions, anticipated field conditions, and the importance of honoring the plans and   celebrations families have already made for the day.  The decision was made as early as possible to allow families, school teams and district staff adequate time to prepare for the change.  The district believes this change will provide the best possible experience for our graduates and families.

Superintendent Andy Smith said, “Graduation is one of the most meaningful celebrations in the lives of our students and families.  While we can never predict weather conditions with complete certainty, this decision gives us the best opportunity to ensure a smooth, safe, and uninterrupted ceremony for our graduates and guests.  We are grateful for the flexibility of our families and the work of our schools and staff as we come together to honor and celebrate the Class of 2026.”

Ticket Information

Tickets are required to enter the gymnasium.  The number of tickets allotted to each graduate will depend on the seating capacity of the gym and the number of graduates at the school.  Guests will not be admitted into the gym without a ticket.  Children under the age of 3 will not require a ticket but must sit in an adult’s lap during the ceremony. All tickets are general admission; there will be no reserved seating.  Limited handicap accessible seating will be available.

All ceremonies will be live streamed; a link is available on school websites.  Limited first-come, first-seated overflow seating will be available in the auditorium for those who come to campus without a ticket.

Important Reminders:

  • Doors will open at 7:45am.

  • For safety and order, guests will not be allowed to enter the area where graduates report.

  • School photographers will be taking pictures during graduation.  These pictures will be available to graduates and families at no cost.

  • No bags or noisemakers will be allowed into the gym.
