A Message From the Media Center

Please return library books this week; the dropbox will be outside the library for convenience. We will delete fines for any books returned during the week that have a fine. Also, be sure to check your Destiny account to see that you have returned everything. You can do this by going to Classlink and clicking on the Follet link, which is the Destiny catalog. Check your bookbag, car, and at home for books you may have forgotten you checked out. If you lost a book, please let library staff know or email rsmith1@sdoc.org

If you're interested in reading over the summer, take a look at what the public library is offering because they give prizes and other incentives. They use Beanstack to log reading goals.

WHS Exam Policy

Exam Policy - Students in grades 9 – 12 must take exams at the conclusion of each course (unless that course has a state-mandated End of Course Exam). Students must take exams at the time scheduled by the district and will not be allowed to take exams at any other time without permission.

In extenuating circumstances, students may request to take an exam at a time different from the regularly scheduled exam time. Requests will only be approved in unusual circumstances. If approved, the rescheduled exams must be taken during a time that is convenient for the teacher. To maintain test security, teachers may require students to complete the exam after the exam window. Students may not miss another class to take a rescheduled exam.

Procedures:
Step 1: The students making a request must complete this form.
Step 2: The student must have the form signed by a parent/guardian.
Step 3: The student must get approval from either Mrs. Crawford or Mrs. Ward.
Step 4: Speak with the teacher in-person to arrange a makeup date with the teacher and sign the form.
Step 5: The student should keep the form as documentation that the exam request was approved.

Seniors must have a 70 or above for an overall average and not be over days on attendance to exempt exams. There is not appeal for exam exemption.

Attendance Matters

Are You Talking to Me???

YES!!!!! You! I'm talking to you!

Attendance laws and seat time requirements are set by the state South Carolina and the School District of Oconee County. At WHS, we offer morning make-up sessions, not as a punishment, but as an OPPORTUNITY to earn back the seat time missed and be awarded credit for your classes.

DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS OPPORTUNITY!!!

Sessions are held Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8-8:45 in the upstairs computer lab (Coach Wimphrie's classroom).

Students missing more than the allowed days and not attending morning make-up sessions may not receive credit for their class.
Don't be late be on time for class

Be On Time!!!

Students getting 5 or more tardies in a class will be assigned LUNCH DETENTION instead of detention during FLEX.
  • Students and parents will get an email notification if/when a student is assigned. It is YOUR JOB to check your email regularly.
  • Students will get their lunch and then report immediately to lunch detention. Students must be present by the following times in order to be counted present.
Lunch A: 12:25
Lunch B: 1:10
Lunch C: 1:55

Let’s get to school and class ON TIME!!!!
